Malik Willis got what he was seeking in free agency, a strong contract to be a starting NFL quarterback.
You have to wonder whether the Miami Dolphins told him what was coming next.
The Dolphins are tearing down the roster, entering what appears to be a full-on rebuild, aside from the part where they signed a new starting QB.
Willis struggled in a bad situation to open his NFL career in Tennessee, then thrived in a better environment with the Packers .
These Dolphins are now feeling a lot like those past struggling Titans than a thriving team in Green Bay.
Of course, Miami is run by some former Packers leaders, and they're hoping to eventually get the Dolphins to the right spot.

In the meantime, Willis doesn't have a lot of help.
Jaylen Waddle was just traded to the Denver Broncos on Tuesday, and now the only top-notch offensive talent remaining is De'Von Achane -- don't be surprised if he ends up in trade rumors, too.
Feel bad for Malik Willis.
His second chance to be a full time starter will be in a full tear down.
Wonder if the Dolphins expressed their plans to him before he signed.

Wonder if the Dolphins expressed their plans to him before he signed.
The Dolphins' best receivers are now some mix of Malik Washington, Jalen Tolbert, Tutu Atwell, Theo Wease Jr., Tahj Washington and Terrace Marshall.
Sure, they can draft help there, but Willis is going to have to make a lot of this work by himself.
He earned himself a chance to prove himself as a full-time starter.
But given where the Dolphins' roster sits, if Willis can do that right now in Miami, it'll be even more of an impressive outcome than it initially seemed.
