The positive encounter with the Scottish singer came after Harding claimed her daughter was ‘berated’ be a security guard after an interaction with Chappell Roan
Catherine Harding has publicly thanked Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi for his "kindness" following a distressing incident involving her daughter and Chappell Roan ’s security.
The positive encounter with Capaldi came after Harding, who is married to former Premier League footballer Jorginho , recounted an upsetting experience where a security guard "berated" her and her daughter after an interaction with Chappell Roan.
"She literally didn’t do anything; she just looked at her and smiled.
She came back and she actually said to me: ‘Mum, I don’t know if it’s her.’ Because obviously she looked like, you know, with her costumes and everything, she looks a little bit different," Harding said.
Harding described how a security guard then approached them with an "aggressive tone" to "berate and scold" them while they were eating.
"Even if she did send him or she didn’t send him, I don’t know, for me it felt like it really overstepped a boundary," she added.
The tickets to see Roan perform had been a birthday gift for her daughter, and Harding stated that the entire experience had been "ruined," leading them to miss the show.
"We came all the way to Sao Paulo to watch the show.
It was my daughter’s birthday present.
She actually asked for tickets to come for her birthday present, which is a little bit ruined because we didn’t go to the show last night," she explained.
Jorginho, 34, echoed his wife’s sentiments, stating that the incident left the little girl "extremely shaken and cried a lot." He also accused the singer of not appreciating her supporters, adding, "Without your fans, you would be nothing."

Chappell Roan has since responded, asserting that neither Harding nor her daughter had approached her, and that the security guard involved was not part of her personal detail.
In her own Instagram video, Roan stated: "I did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child, I did not.
They did not come up to me.
They weren’t doing anything.
It’s unfair for security to just assume someone doesn’t have good intentions when they have no reason to believe, because there’s no action even taken."
She further clarified: "I do not hate people who are fans of my music.
I do not hate children – that is crazy."
Responding to Roan’s video, Harding maintained that she knew the security guard was not part of the hotel security but rather someone who "looks after artists." She continued: "I don’t know if it was her personal security guard, but he was with her.
So that is all I know." Harding expressed hope that "if it wasn’t her, that she learns to not allow the people that work for her to treat people like this."
A statement from a representative for Roan on Monday said: “Chappell was not aware of any interaction between this mother / daughter and a third party security office.
“She did not see them at breakfast in her hotel, as she said in her video.
She did not direct her personal security or anyone on her team to interact with them.
“Chappell holds her own teams to the highest standards and has zero tolerance for any kind of aggressive behaviour towards her or her fans.”
Following Jorginho’s public post, the popstar has faced criticism online, including from the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Cavaliere.
Roan, whose real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, has previously spoken out about "entitled" fans and "creepy" behaviour in a series of TikToks in 2024, emphasising the need for boundaries between celebrities and their admirers.
She is known for tracks including 'Pink Pony Club', 'Good Luck, Babe!', 'Hot To Go!' and 'Red Wine Supernova'.
