There’s nothing Coronation Street fans more than some old-fashioned soap justice.

Someone is about to expose Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) for causing the Corriedale crash that killed Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank).

It’s fashionable for villains to get their comeuppance in Corrie right now.

The residents of Weatherfield are finally turning on abuser Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) now his monstrous treatment of Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) has come to light.

Chid predator Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) has been practically chased off the Cobbles by an angry mob.

Unhinged stalker Mal Roper (Tim Treloar) was hospitalised by Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) for tormenting his mother Bernie Winter (Jane Hazelgrove).

However, there’s been one bad apple that’s yet to be smashed… until now.

Carl Webster is the kind of soap villain you just love to hate.

He’s not an abuser, he’s not the antagonist of some emotional issue story, he’s just an absolute scum-bucket lowlife who would have an affair with his brother’s missus, then do the dirty on her with James Bailey (Jason Callender) when things got stale.

But Carl’s talents don’t end with cheating.

He’s a big fat liar too.

Not only is he secretly responsible for the hit-and-run that put Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) in a wheelchair, but he caused the Corriedale Crash that killed Billy and pinned the blame on his sister Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) who it turns out, is actually his mother.

Come to think of it, maybe there’s a reason Carl is so messed up…
Even after the mother of all bombshells dropped on his head, Carl’s still perfectly happy to let Debbie rot in prison than tell the truth, despite the fact her dementia is in rapid decline.

A penchant for dodgy dealings has left the Worst Webster in almost permanent debt, hence why he wants to get his greasy mitts on his mother’s precious Chariot Square Hotel.

All this time, Debbie kept her mouth shut and quietly did her time just to protect her poor excuse for a son – despite the protests of her husband Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) and brother Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) Now her appeal has been granted and she’s about to be released from prison, guess who’s sliming his way back into her good graces in the hope of a few bob?

But this time, Creepy Carl might be running out of luck.

In upcoming scenes of Coronation Street, one Rovers’ Return regular starts to suspect that it was Carl behind the wheel on the fateful night of the Corriedale crash.

Will the truth come out?

When Debbie is released from prison, celebrations at the Rovers’ are cut short when Ronnie despairs that she has gone missing.

Carl finds Debbie on the swings and is genuinely pleased to see that she’s been released.

However, like always, Carl has a motive.

He’s up to his eyeballs in debt to a dodgy business contact named Fiona.

Will Debbie help?

Fortunately, Ronnie finds out the next day and is incensed to discover Carl has asked Debbie for money to pay off Fiona… and he’s even more furious to learn that she intends to give it to him.

Taking matters into his own hands, Ronnie decides to call Fiona himself.

What will he discover?

While Ronnie does some detective work, Debbie struggles to adjust back to life in the Chariot Square Hotel.

The last thing she needs is say… a dramatic confrontation from Billy’s best friend and the closest thing he had to a daughter, Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby).

Needless to say, Debbie is seriously wrong-footed when Summer charges into the hotel and asks outright if Carl was the one driving the car the night Billy died.

Will Debbie reveal the truth?

Is it curtains for Carl?
