David Beckham has revealed that his children asked after ‘extra privileges’ when they learned that he was set to be knighted.
The former England footballer and head of the Beckham empire, 50, received his knighthood in November 2025, after decades of campaigning.
This did not include eldest son Brooklyn Beckham, from whom David and Victoria are currently estranged.
This includes sharing his kids’ initial reaction, who were surprised to learn that the family would get no ‘extra privileges.’
‘My kids turn around to me and said, “Dad, do we get any privileges like, any more?”‘ he told hosts Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent.
He added: ‘I was like, “well, apart from the ones that you’ve already got, absolutely not”.’
He also provided an update on son Cruz’s career, speaking of his son’s band – Cruz Beckham and the Breakers, who have been touring their music across the UK and Europe recently.
‘I’m very proud of him because he’s worked really hard.
So good stuff,’ he gushed.
As for his other children, Romeo followed in his father’s footsteps as a professional footballer for a while – retiring in 2024 to concentrate on his modeling career.
Meanwhile, teenage daughter Harper is already establishing herself as a name in the industry, with plans to launch her own beauty brand, HIKU by Harper.
And then there’s eldest son Brooklyn, whose rocky relationship with his parents has hit headlines over the last year due to reports of a rift within the family.
Speculation that all wasn’t right within the House of Beckham first emerged when Brooklyn appeared to ‘snub’ his dad’s 50th birthday party in May last year.
In August, the Beckhams were absent from Brooklyn’s vow renewal to wife Nicola Peltz, all but confirming rumours of a family fallout.
He was also a no-show when David received his knighthood in November, and appeared to offer no acknowledgement of the event on social media.
After months of media speculation, Brooklyn finally broke his silence, publishing a lengthy diatribe to his Instagram account in which he accused his parents of ‘controlling’ and ‘manipulative’ behaviour.
This included his mum allegedly embarrassing him during his 2022 marriage to Nicola, describing how she’d ‘danced very inappropriately’ on him in front of everyone.
This month, he celebrated his 27th birthday – once again appearing to snub his parents, who offered an olive branch via social media.
Sharing two photos on Instagram, David wrote: ‘27 Today.
Happy birthday Bust <3.
We love you x.’
Neither party tagged their son’s account – presumably because he’s blocked them both on social media.
Instead, Brooklyn appeared in a video posted by wife Nicola, which showed him approaching a table laden with flowers, presents and a box of doughnuts which spelled out a birthday message.
In the caption, Nicola wrote: ‘Happy Birthday baby.
I hope all your dreams and wishes come true!
You light up every room you walk into and anyone who knows you loves you.
You’re the most special human and I love being your wife.
I love you I love you I love you.’
Brooklyn commented on the post:‘My baby girl xxx.’
