EastEnders’ Michelle Collins had a mad dash to A&E after an accident left her with a ‘bashed knee’ and ‘cuts and bruises’.

Undisputed soap royalty, beloved as uber bitch Cindy Beale and unlucky-in-love Stella Price in Coronation Street, Michelle took to social media to heap praise on the NHS and the care she received at the hospital after she suffered a fall while trying to prevent her beloved dog, Peggy, from darting out of the door.

Uploading a carousel of images showing her on crutches and in a walking boot, Michelle admitted that she’ll be filming ‘sitting down’ scenes for a while.

‘Fell over trying to stop Peggy bolting out the door while staying with friends in Norfolk bashed my knee, cuts and bruises’ she began the caption.

‘Staff were great, #efficient [and] #kind despite apparently very low on hospital league table.

I would never have known from the service I got.

‘Seems so unfair to label a hospital like this, not great for morale as one of the lovely nurses said.

Also went to my local hospital @Finchleymemorialhospital who were great too!

So lucky to have them so near me.

‘Happy Easter!

Sitting down scenes this week!

@bbceastenders’
Michelle was flooded with well wishes in the comment section by fans and co-stars alike.

Balvinder Sopal, who plays Suki Panesar-Unwin, wrote: ‘Oh love!’ while Harriet Thorpe, who plays Elaine Peacock, added: ‘OMG darling so sorry, sending all love’.

@davethomasstyle wrote: ‘Sending love Michelle.

Get well soon’ and @couture_rashmi said: ‘Oh no!!!

Wishing you better soon.

Sending you healing energy’ and @m4nvreignited added: ‘Sorry to hear this!

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

You’re fortunate, because my last stint in hospital (Stafford, last July) caused severe PTSD.

It was horrific!’

Michelle’s tragic loss

Michelle recently had to say an incredibly sad goodbye to her beloved Shih Tzu, Humphrey, taking to her Instagram to post an incredibly poignant tribute to her late pooch.

Uploading a carousel of heart melting images of herself and Humphrey together over the years, Michelle wrote: ‘Hi all, I wanted to put out a post to let you know that my beautiful little Humphrey has passed away.

‘He came into my life about 16 years ago from the rescue charity @alldogsmatter and he has been my steadfast companion everywhere since.

I can’t think of a single dressing room that I have been in without him.

‘He would often be seen in one of my baskets or bags accompanying me on theatre tours or shopping trips (often escaping from the changing rooms at inappropriate moments).

‘When I met my husband 14 years ago I had to relinquish some of that time because Mike developed such a close bond with him that he would often go with him to his work or be his only company when I was away or working late.

‘The only trouble with that was he often tried clipping Humphrey’s hair himself…which didn’t always work out to plan.

‘I cannot begin to describe how much joy he has brought into our lives and it is truly heart wrenching that he will no longer be there when I open my front door, wake up in the morning or go to sleep at night.

Today Mike said to me, “my world was just a better place with him in it and I feel lost”.
