The following article contains spoilers from the episode of Emmerdale dated April 12.

It hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX and YouTube.

Ah, Emmerdale’s Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) isn’t ever going to learn is he?

The troublesome character highlighted in today’s episode that he really is quite terrified of losing Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley), as he’s now told her another lie to ensure they don’t split up.

Earlier this week, Dawn caught Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) snooping through Joe’s computer.

He covered, but she eventually found the video Joe took in January of Victoria and John Sugden (Isabel Hodgins and Oliver Farnworth).

Dawn was absolutely horrified and immediately confronted Joe.

In Dawn’s eyes, Joe could’ve helped Victoria, but instead he recorded the moment for his own gain.

Joe tried to make excuses, telling Dawn that he wasn’t ever going to report Victoria, he was just using the video as insurance.

The fact he had kept this a secret for so long left Dawn disgusted.

She packed a bag and told Joe that she’d spend the night at Billy Fletcher’s (Jay Kontzle) with their children.

In today’s episode, Dawn proceeded to ignore Joe, but it didn’t take him long until he was able to get back under her skin.

He has many flaws and is a walking red flag, but Joe loves Dawn and she feels the same.

She made Joe promise that he wasn’t hiding anymore secrets, because she doesn’t want to be part of his ongoing campaign where he ruins people’s lives.

POLL

Will Dawn destroy Joe's life before she leaves?

  • No, she will just walk away

  • Yes, revenge!

Joe stated that he wasn’t keeping anything from her and they hugged.

If he was actually honest here, Joe probably would’ve lost Dawn forever – but maybe that will happen later down the line?

Joe still hasn’t told Dawn that he was responsible for getting Holly Barton’s memorial tree cut down a couple of days ago.

At the time, Dawn said that if Joe did do it, they couldn’t be together.

And if that wasn’t an example of foreshadowing, I don’t know what is.

With Olivia Bromley set to leave her role as Dawn Taylor later in the year, is she going to walk away from Joe once she discovers the truth?
