Manchester City face Liverpool in a blockbuster FA Cup quarter-final this weekend.

Man City are chasing a domestic cup double, at a minimum, after beating Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final in their last outing before the international break .

Pep Guardiola’s side have already beaten Exeter, Salford and Newcastle en route to reaching this stage , and are one win away from sealing a return to Wembley Stadium.

Liverpool, meanwhile, suffered a setback in their quest for a top-four Premier League finish by losing to Brighton last time out, but can still have a special end to the season with this competition and the Champions League.

That said, it is shaping up to be a defining period for the Reds as they face City and Paris Saint-Germain (twice) in a ten-day period where hopes of winning any silverware will become clearer .

Man City vs Liverpool is scheduled for a 12.45pm BST kick-off on Saturday, April 4, 2026.

The match will take place at Etihad Stadium.

The former missed the Carabao Cup final win over Arsenal with a hamstring injury and did not join up with the Portugal squad during the international break.

Stones, meanwhile, withdrew from the England camp with a minor knock and is now a doubt .

Marc Guehi will be available for selection despite featuring for Crystal Palace in the third round of the competition.

Liverpool will be boosted by the returns of Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak for the trip to Manchester, though the latter is not ready to start.

Alisson Becker is sidelined, but Jeremie Frimpong and Federico Chiesa should be fit.

Conor Bradley, Wataru Endo and Giovanni Leoni are all long-term absentees.

Man City vs Liverpool prediction
Prior to beating Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final, Man City had won just once in five games in all competitions - that being in the last round of the FA Cup - so Guardiola’s side aren’t exactly in flying form.

That said, Liverpool have equally been a mixed bag aside from the 4-0 win over Galatasaray in the Champions League last-16 second leg and the Wolves cup tie.

Head to head (h2h) history and results
Man City have had Liverpool’s number this season, winning both Premier League meetings - including a 3-0 victory when the two sides met at the Etihad back in November.

The Reds, though, did emerge victorious in the most recent FA Cup clash between the teams back in April 2022.
