Holliday Grainger has gripped the nation with her long-awaited return to the BBC thriller, The Capture.

Four years after the second season landed, Holliday, 38, reprised her role as DCI Rachel Carey, a detective drawn into the vast and deadly conspiracy world for season three, which is currently airing.

The new episodes have drawn in swathes of praise from old and new viewers alike, who have been reminded of its excellent storyline and timely themes.

Other movies and TV shows in which Holliday, 36, has appeared include Roger and the Rottentrolls, Showtime, Strike, The Stolen Girl, Mickey 17 and the 2012 film adaptation of Charles Dickens’s novel Great Expectations.

But who is this Manchester-born TV star when the cameras aren’t rolling?

Is Holliday Grainger married?

Holliday has been in a relationship with Harry Treadaway since 2015, but they are not married.

Harry, 41, is also an actor, with his credits including The Crown (2019), Star Trek: Picard (2020), and The Chemistry of Death (2023).

Devon-born Harry is also an identical twin.

Showbiz clearly runs in the family, as his brother, Luke Treadaway, is an actor and singer too.

Luke won an Olivier Award for his performance in the National Theatre’s production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time in 2013.

Holliday and Harry used to live together in Devon but made the move to London when she fell pregnant.

Despite being famous in their own right, the couple tends to keep their romance pretty low-profile, with Holliday having zero social media presence.

Speaking previously about keeping her relationship private, Holliday admitted that ‘the thought of being recognised in the street is petrifying.’
‘Christmas isn’t complete without charades and the Rizla game… which is what we always called the Name Game… although now there are more kids than smokers we’ve moved on to Post-its on foreheads,’ she said.

Meanwhile, as a young actress working in shows like Waterloo Road in the 00s, she has nothing but praise for the way her own mum helped her navigate the industry.

‘Thank God for my mum!

I wouldn’t be acting otherwise.

I enjoyed it because I was with her.

‘I hated being with chaperones as I felt really infantilised.

She made it OK for me.

Being a teenage actress in the noughties, there were experiences that meant you needed a good grounding,’ she recently told Radio Times.

She’s also been famously humble since her career took off, saying in 2012: ‘I don’t have any massive ambitions to be a movie star.’

Does Holliday Grainger have children?

In May 2021, Holliday and Harry welcomed twin babies into the world.

As the couple tends to keep their family life away from the spotlight, they have not released any details about their children, such as names, sex, or photographs.

However, according to onlookers who have spotted them on family outings, they are very much smitten with their little ones.

In January 2022, the doting parents were seen enjoying a beach walk with the twins, wrapped up to protect themselves from the winter chill.

A passerby then told MailOnline: ‘They were a very happy family enjoying a morning on an almost empty beach.

‘Both were talking to the children, who were giggling in return.

‘The twins appeared to be a boy and a girl, and at one point it looked like they were playing some kind of tag game – girls against boys.

‘Despite the parents’ fame, no one took a blind bit of notice of them.’
The Capture seasons one and two are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

Season three is airing every Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
