Last One Laughing season two has crowned its winner after a dramatic finale, but some viewers think the runner-up has been cheated of victory.
The hit Amazon Prime reality series – hosted by Jimmy Carr and Roisin Conaty – follows a group of 10 top-tier comedians trapped in a room together for six hours, all attempting to make one another laugh.
As it says on the tin – the last to crack…well, wins.
This season saw a competitive crop step up to the plate, including Bake Off icon Mel Giedroyc, returning champion Bob Mortimer and prolific presenter Romesh Ranganathan.
There was even a rogue guest appearance from GMB’s Richard Madeley, which tickled viewers and contestants alike.
As we entered the final episode, however, it all came down to our final two – the deadpan Sam Campbell and the rambling David Mitchell – in the face-off to end all face-offs.
Well, kind of.
This meant that the ultimate winner was eventually decided by counting who had made the most people chuckle throughout the entire series.
Thus, Peep Show legend David was crowned – but his victory rang hollow to some.
In fact, fans are going as far as saying that it should have Sam toting that trophy, especially since they seem to have spotted more than one occasion when David visibly smiled.
‘Just watched Last One Laughing final and, although I love David, the correct winner was Sam.
POLL
Who do you think should have won Last One Laughing?
-
Sam Campell, obviously!
-
David Mitchell, it was the right call
‘Dave smiled SO many times, Sam never broke once.
Plus, they have dave a point for making Dianne laugh when in fact it was Bob jointly involved (arm wrestle).
Really harsh on Sam Campbell,’ X user Perry Spurs wrote.
‘Sam Campbell, you were robbed my beloved,’ ParisTaylorHolt declared.
‘Sam definitely deserved to win, that man didn’t even come close to laughing or smiling,’ Raminta pointed out.
‘Justice for Sam Campbell!
Never remotely broke, yet robbed in the tie break,’ Ben echoed.
‘Kind of think Sam deserved to win Last One Laughing.
What a great, feel good series!’ Ruthipeggs agreed.
It’s not the only discourse to rock this season, with some complaining about Jimmy’s role as host and others pointing out injustices like Romesh getting handed a red card after a targeted laugh attack from the host in question.
Still, David’s victory means he’ll be back for the next season, which has already been renewed thanks to its ongoing mammoth success.
Last One Laughing is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video now.
