A 25-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital following a shooting in Brixton .
Officers were called to reports of shots fired on Coldharbour Lane in the early hours of Saturday.
Police, including specialist crime officers, were on scene within four minutes alongside the London Ambulance Service.
Upon arrival, officers found four people with gunshot wounds.
They were treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to hospital.
One man, aged 25, remains in a life‑threatening condition.
Three others, aged 21, 47 and 70, were also taken to hospital, but their injuries have been assessed as not life‑threatening or life‑changing.
No arrests have yet been made but detectives are working to identify those responsible.
Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo said: “We understand how concerning this incident will be for the local community and want to reassure residents that officers are working at pace to identify those responsible.
“This was an act of indiscriminate violence, and we will work relentlessly to bring the suspects to justice.
“It is vital that anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information that could assist the investigation, comes forward.
“Local residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.
If you have any concerns, please speak to officers.”
