A 44-year-old man has appeared in court on foot of a warrant for his arrest in Northern Ireland in connection with the murder of Robbie Lawlor in April 2020.

Jonathan Gill, with an address at Malahide Road in Clontarf, appeared before a High Court sitting in Dublin.

Mr Gill is wanted by the PSNI on charges of murder and possession of a firearm on a date unknown between 2 and 5 April 2020.

He was arrested in Dublin yesterday morning.

Mr Gill was arrested and taken to Clontarf Garda Station.

Garda Lambe said that he asked Mr Gill if he knew what the offences were about, to which Mr Gill replied that he did not.

Judge Barry O’Donnell told Mr Gill that he had the right to obtain professional legal advice in both jurisdictions, or consent to his surrender to the UK.

When asked if he understood his rights Mr Hill replied, "yes".

Mr Gill was remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison and is due in court again on 21 April.

Robbie Lawlor was shot dead in the Ardoyne area of north Belfast almost six years ago.

The 36-year-old was heavily involved in the Drogheda feud.

Gardaí identified Lawlor as the person responsible for, among other killings, the murder of 17-year-old Keane Mulready-Woods.
