A man has been left with “potentially life-changing injuries” after an incident in Barking involving two cars and a pedestrian.

According to the Met Police , officers were called to Ripple Road in Barking late on Easter Sunday, where they responded to reports of a “serious” collision.

Local reports said the major road was closed for more than 12 hours as officers investigated the crash.

In a statement provided to The Standard, the Met Police said that the pedestrian involved in the incident was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service .

It’s understood that the man remains in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries.

“Police were called at 21:19hrs on Sunday, 5 April to Ripple Road in Barking following reports of a collision involving two cars and a pedestrian,” the statement said.

“Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and the pedestrian, a man in his 50s was taken to hospital.

He remains in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries.”
“Enquiries remain ongoing and no arrests have been made.”
Motorists were advised to avoid Ripple Road near Lidl in Barking on Sunday evening, with bus routes EL1, El2, EL3, 368 and 287 diverted as a result of the incident.

Despite the ongoing investigation , it’s now understood that traffic has resumed on the A road.
