Mauricio Pochettino has predicted Tottenham to avoid relegation, while leaving the door open for a return in the future.

With just seven matches of the season remaining, Tottenham are one place and a solitary point above the drop zone having failed to win a single league game in 2026 .

Taking one point from a maximum 15 available cost Igor Tudor his interim head coach role , but Pochettino is confident his former club will stay in the Premier League with or without appointing a replacement.

"With my connection to Tottenham, it's impossible to feel nothing about Tottenham, about the club, the people that work there, and about the fans,” the Argentine said.

“That was one of the best experiences of my life.

Of course, that's my wish, and I am sure they're going to stay up, with a coach or without a coach, because of the players.

“I think there are the players and then it's a club with fans that are going to make everything to create the energy to win.

Of course, that is going to be tough because the synergy and navigation are difficult.

"What I want to say is, with or without a coach, I think they are going to have the capacity to win, and I really believe that, of course.

“We are going to be here and full focus is on the World Cup, but if you ask me about that club, it's a club I really care about and, for sure, I trust they are going to stay in the Premier League because they deserve to."
While Pochettino insists his focus remains on this summer's World Cup, he has refused to rule out a return to Spurs .

"At the moment, I think we are very, very focused, full focus here on the World Cup," he added.

"I think everyone knows that I am committed to the national team here.

I think it's not a point to talk about the future at the moment.

"Never, say never.

In football, everything can happen."
A reunion between Tottenham and Pochettino in the near future appears unlikely as Spurs are closing in on the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi as their new head coach.

Standard Sport understands Spurs have been locked in talks with De Zerbi and fresh reports claim the Italian is ready to to accept a long-term contract to take over straight away.

De Zerbi had insisted he does not want to start a new role until the end of the season but Spurs are said to have offered him a significant financial package which would make him one of the highest paid managers in the Premier League.
