It’s the horror/mystery film that’s had everyone talking over the past year – and it’s now available for you to stream.

Released in August 2025, Weapons went on to become a global success, grossing $270million (£201m) against a $38m (£28.2m) budget and scooping a string of gongs during awards season.

Critics praised its ‘intriguing’ story and ‘superbly orchestrated’ finale, with the prolonged fan furore leading to conversations of a follow-up film.

So, if you missed out on the original hype train or want to experience the supernatural spookiness for a second time, you can now watch Weapons on Sky Cinema and NowTV.

Written and directed by Zach Cregger, Weapons follows the case of 17 children from the same classroom who mysteriously run away on the same night at the same time.

Locals and distressed parents in the tight-knit community are left in a desperate search for answers about who or what could be behind their disappearance, with attention also turning to the one single child who did not vanish.

The cast member who undoubtedly steals the show, however, is Amy Madigan as Alex’s elderly and eccentric aunt Gladys.

Among reviews, Madigan has long been highly praised, helping Weapons to sit with a 93% critics’ score and 85% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

Jazzmin Crawley of the Girl, That’s Scary podcast describes Weapons as ‘uniquely delightful and terrifying’, while Robert Roten of Laramie Movie Scope says: ‘This horror film goes from being simply creepy to mysterious to fascinating as it moves along its way towards a surprising conclusion.

I felt very uncomfortable watching the first part of this movie because of its creepiness, but then it got interesting.’
‘Weapons might just be a masterpiece’, states Tony Stamp of Flicks, with Stephen A.

Russell of Orion’s Shoulder urging Madigan to ‘take a bow’.

Echoing such sentiments among fan feedback, @RT11145944 says: ‘Very unsettling and scary movie with a great plot twist.’
‘The star here is Amy Madigan as the crazy aunt.

This kept my interest’, writes @Flameon.

Others say Madigan is ‘scary as heck as Aunt Gladys’ and called her performance ‘freaky and disturbing’.

Consequently, Cregger has already discussed a potential Weapons sequel, telling Variety that he could ‘definitely’ see himself working on another story set in the same world.

‘I can’t help it,’ he said last August.

‘I have another idea for something in this world that I’m kind of excited about.

‘I’m not going to do it next, and I probably won’t do it after my next movie, but I do have one, and I’d like to see it on the screen one day.’
It has since been reported that a prequel with the working title of Gladys is in the works, with Cregger penning the screenplay alongside Zach Shields.

The news was met with major buzz on social media earlier this month, with Weapons fans declaring it ‘exactly’ what they want to see.

‘Could Amy Madigan become the first actor to win the Oscar twice for playing the same character’, @zakfilm on X mused.

POLL

Will you watch a Weapons Aunt Gladys prequel?

  • Yes, I want to know her backstory

  • Nah, the one film was enough

‘Finally giving the people what they want!

Gladys is already the horror icon of the decade.

Amy Madigan really served with this one’, declared @Fitness_diet01.

Heaping praise on Gladys, Madigan admitted in December that she never viewed the terrifying yet wildly entertaining character as a villain.

On loving playing her, she told Screen Daily: ‘I thought, “This woman is fantastic.

She’s very original.”
‘I know technically she’s supposed to be the villain, but I didn’t see her that way.

She has a great confidence and vivaciousness, and an ability to be laser sharp.

It was just joyful to be able to do that.’
Weapons is now available to stream on Sky Cinema and NowTV.
