After expressing frustrations with Bondi’s job performance, the president reportedly told her ‘it’s time’
After Noem’s ousting, Bondi told a friend that the president’s willingness to fire the former DHS secretary meant she could be in “jeopardy,” the New York Times reported.
The president had allegedly expressed frustrations with his attorney general after she failed to secure indictments against his enemies, oversaw the disastrous rollout of the Epstein files and amassed negative media attention over mass firings.
While riding in "The Beast” on the way to the Supreme Court earlier this week, the president told Bondi: “I think it’s time,” according to the Wall Street Journal.
Bondi reportedly asked Trump if she could keep her job until the summer, but he said no.
Her departure has seen a mixed reaction from both sides of the political aisle, though GOP Rep.
Nancy Mace was blunt with her response when asked if she was “glad” that Bondi had been fired.
“I am, actually,” Mace, who has been a strong advocate for the victims of Jeffrey Epstein and the full release of the Epstein files, told CNN Friday.
“The American people want to know that there’s not a two-tiered system of justice...
But no one’s seeing that right now.”
Meanwhile, Bondi could be joined by other Cabinet officials.
The president is allegedly considering replacing Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer, who has been embroiled in a wrongdoing scandal, or Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick , for his job performance.
Former Obama advisers discuss Bondi's firing
Former Obama adviser Dan Pfeiffer says that Pam Bondi’s firing from her post as Attorney General is due to Donald Trump’s “lashing out.”
“And I think firing people is that's real first term Trump behavior.
But I think the second thing going on here is that no one pulls a band aid off slower than Donald Trump.
“What happened with Kristi Noem was very similar to Pam Bondi, which is: a massive scandal happens, Trump sticks with them through the scandal, takes on all the water of that scandal, waits till the scandal is out of the news, and then fires them, bringing the scandal back in the news, but getting none of the actual credit for responding to the scandal and holding someone accountable.”
Trump's former comms director praises Bondi's effort: 'It is never enough for Donald Trump'
Donald Trump’s former communications director has praised Pam Bondi following her firing, saying that she lasted “a long time in a difficult environment.”
“She did everything she thought was appropriate: went after his adversaries, spoke to an audience of one [and] redacted and delivered,” Anthony Scaramucci told NewsNation.
Scaramucci served as comms director for Trump for just 10 days in his first term, lasting from July 21 to July 31 before being dismissed by the president.
“It was never enough.
It is never enough for Donald Trump,” he said Thursday.
“But I want to be fair to Pam Bondi because there’s a lot of disinformation floating around out there.
She did not last 37 Scaramucci’s [a period of 10 days].
She lasted 39.7.
“That is a long time in a very difficult environment trying to satisfy a man who cannot be satisfied.”
Nancy Mace says she's 'glad' that Pam Bondi was fired
South Carolina Rep.
Nancy Mace was blunt with her response when asked if she was “glad” that Pam Bondi had been fired as Attorney General.
“I’ve communicated with the president on potential names of replacements.
I hope that it will be someone who will ensure that people are investigated, that they are indicted, that they’re arrested, that there are trials, regardless of the politics.
She added: “But also...
the American people want to know that there’s not a two-tiered system of justice.
Like, if you broke the law and you’re rich and powerful, you go to jail.
“But no one’s seeing that right now.
They’ve not seen that in years, maybe decades.
And then they see a broken and corrupt justice system at the state level, or at the federal level.”
