Liverpool will hope to have Alisson Becker available for today’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace .

The Reds are dealing with a goalkeeper fitness crisis after losing Giorgi Mamardashvili to a knee injury during last week’s dramatic last-gasp victory over Everton in the Merseyside derby.

Third-choice stopper Freddie Woodman replaced the Georgian for the remainder of the game, which the Reds won 2-1 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium thanks to Virgil van Dijk’s 100th-minute header.

Woodman was expected to start against Palace, but first-choice keeper Alisson is now back in contention after missing the last six games with a hamstring injury.

Arne Slot has already been dealt numerous injury blows throughout a difficult campaign, and just as his star summer signing Alexander Isak returned to full fitness from a broken leg, fellow striker Hugo Ekitike was ruled out for the season - and this summer’s World Cup - with a ruptured Achilles tendon suffered against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

There was more positive news on Thursday for the Liverpool boss as Alisson, Wataru Endo and Joe Gomez all took part in team training , with Gomez likely to be involved against Palace but the game coming too soon for Endo.

The other absentees this weekend for Liverpool are Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni, who are both missing with serious knee injuries.

There is a conversation to be had at right-back after Curtis Jones was fielded in the role last weekend, before Jeremie Frimpong was introduced there late on.

Ibrahima Konate and Van Dijk continue as the club’s only two available senior central defenders, while Andy Robertson got the nod over Milos Kerkez at left-back for the derby.

In midfield, Dominik Szoboszlai played alongside Ryan Gravenberch in the pivot with Florian Wirtz ahead of them as the No10.
