Rylan Clark has opened up about undergoing a ‘traumatic’ cosmetic procedure, after being questioned about his appearance live on air.
The 37-year-old presenter made the admission during his Saturday programme on BBC Radio 2, when colleague Sally Boazman commented on his refreshed look.
‘You’re looking very good these days.
Have you gone under the knife recently?’ she asked.
Rylan replied that he had, in fact, undergone a procedure just the day before.
‘Weirdly, I had something done yesterday, which was, ugh, such a trauma, I’m not gonna lie, what I had done,’ he said.
Pressed for more details, he declined to elaborate, adding: ‘I won’t go into it over the radio, because it was just quite invasive on the face… yeah, it was very invasive.’
The presenter was joined on the show by Mollie King and Matt Edmondson, who appeared to discuss their podcast Novel Idea, while Edmondson also performed a magic trick during the broadcast.
Rylan has long been candid about his experiences with cosmetic work.
He previously revealed spending £25,000 on veneers in 2013 and has also had lip filler and Botox, along with further dental procedures to achieve a more natural look.
In earlier interviews, he admitted he may have gone ‘a bit too far’ at times, but insisted he has no regrets.
‘I don’t regret anything I’ve done,’ he said.
‘If you’re in a position where you want to change something and you think it will make you feel better, then do it.’
The broadcaster has hosted his Radio 2 Saturday show for more than six years.
He is also reportedly in contention to become a future host of Strictly Come Dancing, with insiders suggesting he’s keen to take on the role should it come his way.
The flagship BBC celebrity dance competition series marked the end of an era last year as longtime co-hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced they were calling it quits.
Since then, the hunt has been on for who could replace them, with media personalities such as Alan Carr, Zoe Ball, Alison Hammond and Fleur East all names that are circulating as possibilities.
Sources claim BBC bosses are considering a brand new pair of hosts and believe Rylan’s strong connection to the programme — having previously fronted its spin-off It Takes Two — could make him a strong candidate.
According to The Sun on Sunday, the BBC plans to screentest potential pairings in the coming weeks.
The final three men in the running for the coveted gig are: The Chase legend Bradley Walsh, Rylan, and Strictly pro, Johannes Radebe, who is a ‘new contender’.
Rylan is said to be particularly keen on working alongside Angela Scanlon, who competed on the show in 2023, with insiders suggesting the pairing could appeal to both producers and viewers.
