Scott Mills ’ longtime BBC Radio 2 co-star Tina Daheley has said it has been a “difficult week” as she broke her silence following his shock exit .
The pair have worked together on the station since Mills took over the Breakfast Show in January 2025, with Daheley notably absent from air since his dismissal on Monday.
The 44-year-old newsreader had also remained silent online until Wednesday, when she revealed she had been off work due to illness.
Posting a photo of a cup of tea in bed on Instagram, she told followers she was recovering from a cold or flu and looking forward to spending time with her family over the Easter holidays.
“Good morning!
Just about recovered from this awful cold/flu I’ve had for the past week,” she wrote.
“Being a parent to a primary school-aged child is like having a subscription service to viruses.
“Good news is I’m over the worst of it and looking forward to spending two weeks with my family over the Easter hols from tomorrow after what’s been an incredibly difficult past week.
I’ll be back on the radio Tuesday 21 April.”
Her comments come after a turbulent period for the programme following Mills’ sudden departure.
The BBC confirmed on Monday that the presenter’s contract had been terminated, days after he was taken off air from the breakfast show.
The corporation said that the decision relates to “personal conduct”.
Reports have linked the move to historic allegations investigated by police.
The Metropolitan Police said it launched an investigation in 2016 into alleged sexual offences said to have taken place between 1997 and 2000 involving a teenage boy under 16.
Mills, now 53, was interviewed under caution in 2018.
A file was passed to the Crown Prosecution Service, which determined there was insufficient evidence to bring charges, and the case was closed in 2019.
