Scott Mills allegedly stayed in touch with the teenage boy he was accused of committing “serious sexual offences” against for up to eight years.
The former BBC Radio 2 DJ was sacked last month after it emerged he was investigated over the alleged “offences” against a boy under 16 between 1997 and 2000.
Now, it has been alleged the 53-year-old remained in contact with the boy until around 2006.
"A lot of Scott's friends knew about this lad.
Scott stayed in touch with him, and I first heard about him in 2001,” a source told The Sun .
They claimed Mills was "friendly" with the boy, like he was with a lot of people", and that they were "in contact until around 2006."
The Metropolitan Police launched an investigation into Mills in 2016.
He was questioned in 2018 and the case was closed in 2019 after prosecutors decided there was insufficient evidence to bring charges.
The Standard has contacted Mills’ representative for comment.
Mills was abruptly taken off air by the BBC last month before his firing over allegations related to his "personal conduct".
The BBC has confirmed it knew in 2017 about the police investigation into one of its biggest stars, but said it “acted decisively” to sack him after receiving “new information” in recent weeks.
It is not clear whether BBC bosses knew of the alleged victim ’s age in 2017, but current managers took the decision to sack Mills after learning they had been under 16, BBC News reported.
Mills broke his silence last Wednesday on his sacking.
“The recent announcement that I am no longer contracted to the BBC has led to the publication of rumour and speculation,” he said through his lawyer.
“In response to this the Metropolitan Police has made a statement, which I confirm relates to me.
“An allegation was made against me in 2016 of a historic sexual offence which was the subject of a police investigation in which I fully cooperated and responded to in 2018.
“As the police have stated, a file of evidence was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service, which determined that the evidential threshold had not been met to bring charges .

“Since the investigation related to an allegation that dates back nearly 30 years and the police investigation was closed 7 years ago, I hope that the public and the media will understand and respect my wish not to make any further public comment on this matter.
He concluded: “I wish to thank from the bottom of my heart all those who have reached out to me with kindness, my former colleagues, and my beloved listeners, who I greatly miss.”
His longtime Radio 2 co-star Tina Daheley said it had been a “difficult week” as she addressed his departure.
The pair have worked together on the station since Mills took over the Breakfast Show in January 2025, with Daheley notably absent from air since his dismissal on Monday.
The 44-year-old newsreader, who said she had been off work due to an illness, said: “I’m over the worst of it and looking forward to spending two weeks with my family over the Easter hols from tomorrow after what’s been an incredibly difficult past week.”
Since the allegations came out, Mills has been replaced as the host of a Race Across The World podcast and his plaque has been removed from a bridge on the M3.
