Grammy award-winning artist Laufey has said it felt “very primal” to slap Heated Rivalry star Hudson Williams with a fish in her latest music video.

The 27-year old Icelandic musician, born Laufey Jonsdottir, starred alongside Williams in her ’60s-style music video for her song Madwoman.

The five-minute video shows Laufey and Williams sip tea by a poolside before she sees his face with another woman on the cover of a magazine – alluding to some sort of infidelity.

The star reacts by grabbing a fish from a platter and whacking it across Williams’ face, causing him to fall into the pool.

The singer told the BBC: “Oh my God, it was amazing.

It was cathartic.

“I had a lot of unreleased energy that I released on poor Hudson.

“I’m not a very angry person but it felt good to scream and shout,” she said.

“I dug into my deepest memories of when I’ve been the most wronged by men and I accessed a part of myself I didn’t know I had in me.

Williams, 25, rose to fame after starring in the hit HBO hockey-romance series Heated Rivalry alongside Connor Storrie.

The star-studded music video also featured The Summer I Turned Pretty actress Lola Tung, Olympic medalist Alysa Liu and Katseye singer Megan Skiendiel.

The classically trained musician often blends genres in her music and is hard to pin down to one specific sound, something she finds allows her to be “different versions” of herself.

She said: “Older audiences are always trying to figure me out.

Like, ‘is she a jazz musician?

Is she a pop musician?

Is she a cellist?’
“I find with my younger audience, they don’t have this predetermined bias for what they’re meant to enjoy.

They listen to what their heart wants to listen to.

“I feel so lucky to be a musician nowadays, because genre has never meant less.

“It’s really opened up the road for me to be able to just be all these different versions of myself.”
Laufey’s most recent album, 2025’s Matter Of Time, climbed to number three in the UK album charts and won the singer the Grammy for best traditional pop vocal album.
