Hearts were held to a 1-1 draw at Motherwell last night, which means Celtic can reduce the deficit to one point and Rangers are still in the race
Rangers team news: Tavernier to drop out?
Rangers left back Tuur Rommens is fit again and is likely to come back into the side in place of James Tavernier, with Dujon Sterling moving over to the right.
Andreas Skov Olsen is also likely to drop out after an ineffective display at Hearts but Danny Rohl has no other injury concerns.
Possible line-up: Butland, Sterling, Djiga, Fernandez, Rommens; Raskin, Diomande; Naderi, Asgaard, Moore; Chermiti
Celtic team news: Maeda passed fit after knock at Hibs
Celtic are without Julian Araujo and Cameron Carter-Vickers in defence and Viljami Sinisalo continues to start in goal ahead of Kasper Schmeichel.
Kelechi Iheanacho’s winner against Hibs last weekend could convince Martin O’Neill to bring him in from the start while Daizen Maeda has been passed fit.
Possible line-up: Sinisalo; Johnstone, Trusty, Scales, Tierney; McGregor, Engels, Nygren; Yang, Iheanacho, Maeda
We said Rangers were knocked out of the title race by last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at Hearts, a result that came after Danny Rohl’s side had been 1-0 up at the break and dominating the hosts at Tynecastle.
What followed was in keeping with their season and Rangers have struggled to string 90-minute performances together.
However, the 1-1 draw between Motherwell and Hearts last night means Rangers are not done yet.
They need a miracle from here, though, starting with a win at Celtic this afternoon.
Celtic aiming to extend winning streak with Hearts in their sights
Celtic are the league’s in-form side under Martin O’Neill, winning four in a row since a 2-0 defeat at Dundee United in mid-March.
They left it late to beat 10-man Hibs last weekend and can now trim Hearts’ advantage to one point with a win over Rangers at Parkhead.
What next in this thrilling title race?
It’s only the small matter of an Old Firm between Celtic and Rangers, neither of whom are leading the way with just a week of the season remaining.
That’s because Hearts, bidding for a first league title since 1960, went four points clear at the top last night.
It sets the stakes for this afternoon perfectly.
Celtic have to win and can reduce the deficit to just one point if they do.
Rangers are definitely in must-win territory, and need a miracle too.
We’ll have all the build-up between now and 12pm.
