Zendaya and Robert Pattinson’s new movie, The Drama, is set to be a divisive one, with one star predicting ‘hard discussions’.

In the trailer for A24’s latest project, we see Emma (Zendaya) and Charlie (Pattinson) as a couple who are preparing for their wedding day.

They play a seemingly harmless game with two friends, in which they reveal the worst thing they’ve ever done, leading to outrage after Emma’s answer.

Fans immediately began guessing what the big revelation could be, with rumours that it has something to do with a school shooting.

Alana Haim, who stars as horrified friend Rachel, warned that fans will be spurred into deep chats about the film.

‘I saw it with some of my friends,’ she told The Hollywood Reporter. ‘We got an early screening and it was really crazy the amount of discussion that happened after the movie.’
The Relationships singer continued: ‘There are going to be very hard discussions or very funny discussions or very sad discussions.

‘It kind of runs the gamut of emotion with this movie — and I think that without this movie, a lot of people wouldn’t be talking about those things, which is why you make art.’
While on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Zendaya said she hoped the twist didn’t get ‘spoiled’ for fans so they could ‘really experience the drama’.

‘What’s difficult about even talking about the movie,’ she said, ‘Is there is so many different genres [in it].

It is a romantic comedy in many ways but it’s also a drama.

‘Everybody has their own kind of feelings leaving the theatre, especially with the big twist.

There’s so many conversations that are had after you watch it.’
Jimmy pointed out the movie could ’cause a lot of problems for a lot of people in their personal lives’.

‘Those conversations can go many ways,’ the Challengers star replied, with fans able to make up their own minds from April 3 when the film hits cinemas.

While nothing has been confirmed, the father of a victim of the 1999 Columbine school shootings has spoken out amid rumours.

Tom Mauser, who has not seen the movie, told TMZ he thought it was ‘awful’ to leverage the topic for a romantic comedy.

He felt the decision to cast Zendaya, one of the biggest stars in the world, ‘humanises’ and ‘normalises’ gun violence.

Mass violence is not depicted in the film and the Dune actress’ character did not go through with the shooting.

Tom encouraged anyone having ideations of violence to seek therapy and support but stated it should not be used for entertainment.

Studio A24 has not addressed the concerns and with the film out this weekend, viewers will need to make up their own minds.

The Drama is out in cinemas on Friday, April 3.
