Tom Brady has revealed he asked the NFL about potentially making a comeback
American football icon Tom Brady has revealed he explored a potential return to the NFL , going so far as to ask the league if it would permit a minority team owner to play in a game.

However, NFL rules explicitly state that a player cannot simultaneously hold an ownership stake.

"I actually have inquired, and they don't like that idea very much," Brady told CNBC.

"We explored a lot of different things, and I'm very happily retired.

Let me just say that, too."
Brady, who is set to turn 49 in August, last competed in an NFL game in 2022 before announcing his second retirement.

He currently holds a minority ownership in the Las Vegas Raiders, meaning he would have to sell his 5% stake before any active playing comeback could be considered.

Brady participated in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic this past weekend after briefly flirting with the idea of returning to the NFL.

He reflected on the experience, stating: "I loved being out there playing in the flag game.

I loved not getting hit.

I've got a lot of really fun things I'm involved in.

“It's never going to get old throwing passes to incredible athletes on the football field.

But if anything, that game reconfirmed to me that I'm very happy in my retirement."
The three-time NFL Most Valuable Player holds league records for completions, pass attempts, passing yards, and touchdown passes.

He won six Super Bowl championships with the New England Patriots during the most successful period in the franchise’s history.

Brady left the Patriots in 2019 after 20 seasons with the team and joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in early 2020.

He secured his record seventh Super Bowl championship with the Buccaneers in his first season with the franchise after a dominant win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
