Lucas Bergvall insists he is fit and ready to play 90 minutes as Tottenham return from the international break to visit Sunderland.
The young midfielder returned last month from a lengthy layoff with a hamstring injury , appearing in two Spurs matches ahead of the international break and twice during it for Sweden.
He is yet to play more than 45 minutes in any of those four appearances, but, as new manager Roberto De Zerbi ponders his selection for his first match with the club away at Sunderland on Sunday, Bergvall insists he is ready to complete a full match.
“Obviously, I haven’t played 90 minutes yet, but I can do it.
I think I can do, so I’m just looking forward to the game on Sunday against Sunderland.”
He continued, adding of his spell on the sidelines: “It’s tough, but it is a part of it.
It just happens, and it's how you react from it, how you come back, and how you support the team off the pitch.
I just try to come back as quick as possible.”
Spurs find themselves in the relegation zone for the first time this season as they brace to visit the Stadium of Light, and Bergvall is ready to do what needs to be done as the club looks to avoid the drop.
De Zerbi has been charged with keeping the side in the top flight, and Bergvall described his new head coach as ‘top’.

“Top.
Really good.
Really good with the team, everything,” he said of the early days of De Zerbi’s tenure.
“It has been really good, fun sessions, a lot of intensity and focus as well with everything around it.
“It is going to be a tough game, against Sunderland away.
We just have to go there and perform, you know, and try to get three points.”
