Tyson Fury resumes his boxing career tonight against Arslanbek Makhmudov in a ‘Clash of the Giants’ in London.
16 months after retiring again in the aftermath of his second successive points defeat by Oleksandr Usyk , the former two-time world heavyweight champion launches his latest comeback at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
It is Fury’s first fight on UK soil since stopping Derek Chisora in the 10th round with a dominant display at the same venue back in December 2022, with his last three bouts - against Usyk (twice) and Francis Ngannou - all having taken place in Riyadh.
Despite the inevitable ring rust, the self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ will be expected to deliver a comfortable 35th professional victory to help finally tee up an all-British super-fight with long-time rival Anthony Joshua, who is expected to be at ringside in north London amid rumours over a money-spinning contest now being lined up for Dublin in September.
Looking to spoil Fury’s most recent comeback is Makhmudov, the towering and hard-hitting Russian heavyweight who fights out of Canada and last visited these shores in October, when he outpointed David Allen in Sheffield to continue on the comeback trail following defeats by Agit Kabayel and Guido Vianello.
Conor Benn has co-main event status on Saturday night as he battles former two-time super-lightweight world champion Regis Prograis in a catchweight bout as part of his lucrative one-fight deal with Zuffa Boxing , having made a shock split from Matchroom and Eddie Hearn after his famous rematch win over arch-rival Chris Eubank Jr .
A packed undercard also sees Richard Riakporhe challenge Jeamie ‘TKV’ Tshikeva for the British heavyweight title, with Frazer Clarke also in action against Justis Huni.
TV channel and live stream: Fury vs Makhmudov is being shown live and exclusive across the world on Netflix.
The event is available as part of regular Netflix subscriptions with no additional pay-per-view cost.
