Labour Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is under increasing pressure following a series of disastrous local election results.
His party lost control of Westminster and Wandsworth Councils among others, while Zack Polanski’s Green Party won control of Waltham Forest and won mayoral races in both Hackney and Lewisham.
Now, all eyes have turned to Lambeth, a key council that Labour won convincingly in 2022.
Four years ago, Labour claimed 58 of the 63 available seats, with three going to the Liberal Democrats and the Green Party picking up just two.
Lambeth were expected to announce all of their seats yesterday, but still have 23 seats to report.
And as of 9.30am on Saturday, it looks like Labour could be in for yet another catastrophic swing.
With 40 of the 63 seats claimed, the Greens are in a strong position with 21 seats.
Labour have claimed 12, with seven for the Liberal Democrats.
32 seats are needed for a majority, so the Greens can clinch that with 11 of the remaining 23.
The count will resume at 10am this morning, with final results probably coming at some point this afternoon.
