The ‘DoorDash Grandma’ who delivered McDonald’s to Donald Trump yesterday previously spoke to a congressman about cancelling the tax on tips.

Sharon Simmons personally delivered a bag of fast food to the President outside of the Oval Office yesterday.

She then stood by as Trump spoke to mark the one year since he proposed his initiative to ban taxes on tips, which Simmons herself has spoken out about.

Trump went on to defend his bizarre post where he appeared to be Jesus Christ, before asking Simmons her opinion on transgender women playing sports, which she declined.

But this isn’t the first time the ‘DoorDash’ Grandma has caught the eye of those in Washington.

A grandmother of ten from Arkansas, Simmons began working for DoorDash during COVID-19 to make ends meet.

In 2025, however, she made even more deliveries to help pay for her husband’s cancer treatment – and told her story to Congress to support Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’, which would stop taxes on tips.

‘Because DoorDash provides me with a truly flexible work schedule, I was able to drive him to and from his treatments,’ Simmons told Congress.

‘During that time, every extra dollar I earned mattered more than ever.

When I found out about the No Tax on Tips, I was like, this is incredible because this, I mean, it’s not going to replace my life savings , but it’s going to help certainly with future doctor’s appointments and future things that, you know, we have going on.’
She added: ‘DoorDash is how I help put food on our table, how I help my husband through medical treatments and how I maintain connections with my community and 10 grandchildren in Missouri.’
What does Trump order from McDonald's?

Trump is known for his love of America’s most famous fast food chain, and his order is pretty impressive.

The President is said to eat two Big Macs, two Filet-O-Fish sandwiches and a large chocolate milkshake – though he’s also known to love a Diet Coke.

Trump’s ‘No Tax on Tips’ initiative has reportedly helped Simmons a great deal – and she marked the one-year anniversary of the initiative by delivering McDonald’s to none other than Trump himself.

Even after receiving a generous tip from the President, Simmons and her family are still reportedly struggling as the cost of living in the US surges.

A GoFundMe was set up by her stepson, Kyrie, asking for donations as she and her husband face ‘tough challenges’.

‘My dad is currently undergoing cancer treatments, and the financial strain has been overwhelming for both of them.

‘Despite everything, Sharon continues to work hard and advocate for others, never letting her own struggles get in the way of helping those around her.’
