Diego Simeone believes Julian Alvarez will be fit to start the second leg of Atletico Madrid’s Champions League semi-final against Arsenal next week.

Alvarez’s penalty earned Atletico a 1-1 draw against Mikel Arteta’s side in the first leg on Wednesday night after Viktor Gyokeres’ first-half spot kick put the Gunners in front.

However, the Argentina international was forced off with 13 minutes remaining after injuring his ankle in a challenge from Eberechi Eze.

Alvarez was clearly in pain as he left the pitch was seen walking on the pitch after the full-time whistle.

Atletico will also have concerns over Giuliano Simeone and Alexander Sorloth as they also picked up injuries during the game.
