Katy Perry and Ruby Rose had ‘way too much to drink’ on the night the actress claims she was assaulted by the pop star.
She accused Perry of ‘rubbing her vagina’ on her face, before adding she’d recently filed a police report.
Hitting back against the claims, representatives for Perry slammed the allegations as ‘dangerous reckless lies’, adding that Rose ‘has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named’.
A few days on, the former manager of the Spice Market nightclub at the time has detailed what he remembers about the night of the alleged assault.
Speaking to the Herald Sun anonymously, he recalled Perry and Rose visiting the venue along with the singer’s ‘make-up girl and another guy who was friends with Ruby’.
He went on to claim their attendance was a ‘security nightmare’ due to the attention they attracted, with around 600 people in the venue at the time and Perry repeatedly ‘coming out and dancing with everybody and going right in the middle of the mosh pit’.
The former manager then told the publication that he believes the pair were ‘drunk’ on the night and that they’d ‘both had way too much to drink’.
‘They were drunk, they weren’t paralytic or anything and just like any other person drinking at a nightclub.
Being conscious of them both being public figures, we didn’t want someone taking photos of them drunk like that.
We always protected them as much as we could,’ he claimed.
He also recalled a security guard escorting the pair from the venue’s rear exit, with the pair saying they were planning on heading to a nearby hotel after the bar.
Following the claims made by Rose this week, the former manager added he was not aware of any alleged assault on the night they were at the venue.
Spice Market – which was located in the Grand Hyatt hotel – has since closed down.
In her original statement Rose claimed Perry had seen her ‘resting’ on her best friend’s lap to avoid her and ‘bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her’.
‘After it I threw up on her.
I told the story publicly but changed it to be a “funny little drunk story” because I didn’t know how else to handle it.
Later she agreed to help me get my US visa.
So I kept it a secret,’ she wrote.
‘But I DID tell yall she wasn’t a good person.
Instead I got attacked by..
everyone.’
She continued: ‘I was only in my early 20s.
I’m now 40.
It has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly.
Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes.
Thank you for seeing me.’
The actress then said that Perry was ‘more than welcome to sue me’, adding: ‘She won’t, because it happened, I have photos and it was literally in public and witnessed by multiple people.’
The day after Rose made her allegations public, Victoria Police confirmed they were investigating a ‘historical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010’.
‘Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s CBD.
As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage,’ a spokesperson added.
Metro has contacted representatives for Katy Perry and Ruby Rose for comment.
