The 54-year-old actress has been living with multiple sclerosis since 2021, and friends worryingly claimed over the weekend that she ‘might not have a tomorrow’.

The Anchorman star has now addressed the speculation over her health in an Instagram post, in which she said she’s a ‘strong chick’.

The caption read: ‘Thank you for the outpouring of love and well wishes.

Health issues are a constant for me, but I’m a strong chick and I’m getting stronger and better every day.

‘I’m taking a moment to focus on my health, but I’ll be back with more to say soon enough.’
The Dead to Me actress, who has one daughter with her musician husband Martyn LeNoble, was said to have been hospitalised since late March, according to a report in TMZ.

A source claiming to be close to Applegate subsequently told the Daily Mail: ‘With every setback, if we are being realistic, everyone has it in the back of their minds that they might not have a tomorrow with her.’
They said that Applegate was in ‘rough shape’, but that ‘people aren’t thinking this is the end’.

The source continued: ‘Nobody is planning to be at a funeral.

Granted, her disease will take her sooner than anyone would like it to be, but everyone has trust in her medical team and her will to live.’
Alongside her memoir, Applegate has also been open about living with the chronic condition on her podcast the MeSsy Podcast, which she co-hosts with The Sopranos star Jamie Lynn Sigler, who also lives with the autoimmune disease.

While promoting her new book, Applegate told The New York Times of MS: ‘It feels like pushing a boulder up a hill.

My friend Cindy and I want to write a pamphlet called MS for Dumbasses.

‘We’re going to pass it out to help people understand: It’s slowly killing us, guys.

Period, end of story.

Whether it’s 20 years, 30 years, it’s taking away our functions.

… I wake up and my hands are cramped.

I can’t move my head, I can’t walk to the bathroom.

So don’t say to me, “You’re looking so good today.” I don’t want to hear it.

Just help me up.

That’s all.’
