With rising temperatures, the district administrations of Nandyal, Kurnool and Anantapur have urged the public to take precautions and prevent sun stroke.

Nandyal District Collector Rajakumari Ganiya, while releasing a poster to spread awareness on the measures to be taken to avoid sun stroke, suggested the people to drink plenty of water, fruit juices, tender coconut water and butter milk and also wear cotton clothes.

Rajakumari Ganiya asked people not to drink anything from roadsides and not to wear black or dark clothes.

If a person shows symptoms of sun stroke, such as rise in body temperature or convulsions, they should be given immediate medical attention.

Anand chalked out an action plan to provide relief measures to the people from the hot and humid conditions.

Anand asked officials to arrange 534 water kioks in panchayats, municipalities and government offices across the district to provide water and butter milk.

He asked medical and health department officials to make available ORS packets and medicines to meet any medical emergencies.

Anand wanted change in working hours of labourers and sanitation workers and said that they should be allowed to work before 10 a.m.

and after 3 p.m.

Water facility should also be made for animals and cattle, he said.

He also suggested people not to take up any work that involves physical strain from noon to 3 p.m.

Siri asked officials to prioritise public health in view of the rising temperature and make available water at all important places by setting up water kiosks.

She wanted special arrangements to be made at schools, colleges, bus stands, market yards, temples and place where people congregate in large numbers.

She suggested that agriculture labours, construction workers and industrial workers working in the open be given adequate rest and provided with water and butter milk.

Siri also asked the fire services department personnel to be on an alert and asked officials to take steps to prevent forest fires and also at haystacks and agriculture fields.

The Collector also urged parents not to allow their children to enter water bodies and told officials to instal notice boards in front of ponds and mining quarries.
