Passengers heading to Gatwick Airport should expect major disruption this morning as emergency services respond to an incident between Haywards Heath and Three Bridges.

All lines in the area are currently closed, with trains likely to be cancelled, heavily delayed by up to 60 minutes, or diverted.

Disruption is expected to continue until around 1pm.

Southern services are affected on routes between Eastbourne and Haywards Heath, Littlehampton and London Victoria or London Bridge, and Brighton and London Victoria.

Thameslink services between Brighton and Gatwick Airport, as well as Haywards Heath and Bedford, are also impacted.

In a separate issue, a fault on a train between Watford Junction and Clapham Junction has led to some lines being blocked.

Services on this route may face cancellations, delays of up to 20 minutes, or alterations.

Passengers are advised to postpone travel where possible, as many trains will only operate on parts of their usual routes.
