Donald Trump shocks onlookers by ascribing view on Iran and nuclear weapons to King
King Charles and Queen Camilla are traveling from Washington DC to New York to visit the 9/11 memorial ahead of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, as part of their historic state visit to the United States.

The royals will meet first responders and families of those killed that day, and lay flowers at a memorial pool.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani will also be in attendance and is expected to meet with the royals.

Earlier, Buckingham Palace responded after President Donald Trump claimed that King Charles agreed with him that Iran should not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon.

Members of the royal family never express political views and are constitutionally required to remain strictly neutral on politics.

“Charles agrees with me even more than I do,” Trump said, before reiterating that Iran would not be allowed to develop nuclear arms.

In his ‌own comments later, the King did not speak about Iran or the Iran war.

A Palace spokesperson responded: “The King is naturally mindful of his government's long-standing and well-known position on the prevention of nuclear proliferation.”

Police should interview Andrew again, says Gordon Brown
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor should be re-interviewed by police over his use of public funds while he was UK trade envoy, former prime minister Gordon Brown has said.

Mr Brown told The New Statesman that the former Duke of York was interviewed at his request during his time in government over the “unacceptable costs he was incurring”.

Mr Brown said he should also be investigated over alleged trafficking into the UK by paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

“The British authorities should now re-interview Andrew, not just over possible breaches of the Official Secrets Act, but over his use of public funds, and especially over incidents in which women allegedly brought to him at Sandringham, Buckingham Palace, Windsor and at other locations, may have been trafficked into the country by Epstein,” he said.

Explaining King Charles’ 1814 White House ‘redevelopment’ joke
The monarch noted Donald Trump’s controversial designs for a ballroom in the East Wing and reminded the audience that the British had, too, attempted a “real estate development of the White House in 1814”, referencing the burning of much of the capital by the British forces.

Here’s what happened when Britain burned the White House during the war of 1812.

The UK’s ambassador to Washington has said that America’s only “special relationship” is with “probably Israel ” rather than the UK, according to a report.

In remarks likely to exacerbate growing animosity from the Trump administration towards Downing Street, Sir Christian Turner also said it was “extraordinary” that the Jeffrey Epstein scandal had failed to bring down any notable figures in the US.
