When it comes to iconic TV shows within the comedy world and beyond, you don’t get much bigger than 30 Rock.

The satirical US sitcom, which debuted in 2006, was created by former SNL head writer and all-around comic legend Tina Fey as a parody of the sketch show comedy that launched her career.

In our fictional universe, however, Tina plays Liz Lemon, headwriter on TGS with Tracy Jordan, where she must navigate a difficult boss, eccentric stars and the most elusive of them all – a work-life balance (let the woman enjoy some night cheese, dang it!)
The stacked cast also includes Tracy Morgan, Jane Krakowski, Alec Baldwin and Jack McBrayer, as well as cameos from stars such as Oprah Winfrey, Robert De Niro, Jennifer Aniston, Matt Damon and Will Ferrell (seriously, the list could go on).

What’s more, it ran for a whopping seven seasons across almost 140 episodes – so there’s no shortage of fun.

Now it’s landing on Netflix, whether you’re a habitual rewatcher or it’s your first time – it will keep you occupied well into spring, by which time the sun will actually be hot rather than just pretending to be hot, and you can go outside!

There’s a reason this series has been hailed as a classic for the past two decades.

It is the perfect gateway into American comedy and offers the who’s who of 00s comics.

‘One of the funniest comedies I’ve ever watched, and super unique for storylines.

Not predictable or obvious in any way.

Highly recommend,’ hoginlly wrote on Reddit.

‘It has some of the sharpest, funniest writing I’ve ever seen in an American sitcom.

Absolutely stellar show,’ CobaltDusk echoed.

‘It’s comedy poetry.

They manage to fit a joke into almost every line.

I think it is one of the best written comedies of all time,’ dantsymusic agreed.

‘IMO one of the best comedies of all time,’ schnu44 reflected.

‘You need to watch it.

Then you will need to watch it again for all the obvious jokes you missed.

Then you will watch again to begin to find the many other jokes.

It’s a show that can be watched over and over and you will always find something new,’ mjktk hailed.

That’s not even touching on the fact that this is a multi-Golden Globe and Emmy-winning.

All this to say that, once you click play, it’s pretty much guaranteed to win you over.

And with Tina stepping back into her shoes as SNL’s fairy godmother for the inaugural UK episode, now has never been a better time to catch up on some of her very best work.

30 Rock lands on Netflix this Friday, May 1.
