The Dingles in Emmerdale are all about family.
When one of them needs help, someone else is usually there to assist.
Loyalty runs through their veins but more often than not, so does the inability to back out of a plan when they’re in too deep.
It’s almost time for Cain Dingle’s (Jeff Hordley) operation following his prostate cancer diagnosis.
It’s been an incredibly stressful start to the year for him, as he’s had to deal with this life-changing news on top of Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) spending time in prison for crimes she didn’t commit.
When the day of Cain’s operation arrives, son Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn) cannot help but panic about what may happen while his dad is in theatre.
Fortunately, Cain learns afterwards that the surgery was a success.
He’s quickly faced with a problem though, as he’s confronted with the reality of his catheter.
Worried about potential permanent incontinence, Cain pretends to be in further pain to delay getting discharged.
Later, when Cain senses an awkward vibe between Moira, Robert and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), he eventually discovers from his wife that Robert planted the ID cards at Butler’s.
In true Cain style, he gets to work plotting revenge, and later asks Sam for a favour.
The next day, Robert is attacked from behind and knocked unconscious by Sam.
He wakes up tied to a chair and faces a brooding Cain, who is holding a hammer.
He demands that Robert pays for his actions – but how far is Cain going to go?
Will Sam see sense and stop his brother before it is too late?
