This is the shocking moment a prolific thief cries out in pain after being caught in a river by a police dog before being arrested with his trousers down.

Bodycam footage shows the man, named in the clip as Louis, let out a high pitched scream as the Met Police’s PD Bowser bites him, causing him to fall to the floor in the shallow water.

He desperately tries to fight off the dog as an officer yells at the man to get down, and is then seen almost in tears with his trousers and pants just above his knees as he is placed in handcuffs.

The force posted the footage of the pursuit on their social media pages , where it has racked up more than 300,000 views.

A caption to their post reads: “A repeat offender linked to 26 crimes such as burglaries and thefts from motor vehicles is back in custody.

“Another prolific offender taken off our streets thanks to PD Bowser & his handler.”
The footage includes clips of the man rifling through vehicles and stealing property as part of his crime spree.

PD Bowser can be seen climbing over a fence and through people's gardens before reaching the shallow river, with the officer heard saying: “I’m just going to go in the river.

I’ll have to just get wet feet.”
Within minutes, they have spotted Louis, and the officer lets PD Bowser off his leash to take pursuit, as his handler yells at the suspect to stand still.

The man wails in pain as the dog apprehends him, collapsing to the ground as the officer tells him to get his hands off the dog.

A subsequent clip shows the pained man almost in tears as he is placed in handcuffs with his trousers and pants pulled down.

The Met have confirmed that the man had been returned to prison and has since been convicted on a number of charges.
