What Supernanny Jo Frost intended as a heartfelt appeal has ended up going viral for a completely different reason.
But on TikTok, many couldn’t get past one small and hilarious detail: the way she said his name, which was, admittedly, like she’d literally never heard it said out loud before.
Addressing the Prime Minister directly, Frost opened with a plea about protecting children online, but users fixated on her pronunciation, variously hearing it as ‘kerr stymer’ or ‘kurr stymer’.
The reaction was immediate and gleeful, with one person asking, ‘Who’s Kerr Stymer?’ while another posted, ‘WHO IS KERR STYMER I AM DECEASED’.
Others joked that it was a ‘great speech’ but questioned ‘how many will get past “Kerr stymer”?’, while plenty simply confessed they were ‘laughing so hard at pronunciation of Keir Starmer’.
Drawing on nearly four decades of experience working with families, the former Supernanny star made a direct and urgent case for change, even if she didn’t quite nail the pronunciation.
She described seeing very young children already shaped by ‘fast-moving, overstimulating content’, warning that it is affecting everything from attention spans to language and behaviour.
As children grow older, she argued, the pressures only intensify, with seven- and eight-year-olds exposed to comparison culture and online influence long before they have the tools to process it.
Teenagers, she said, are facing an even more complex set of challenges, struggling with identity, self-worth and emotional regulation while navigating exposure to harmful material.
Their ‘confidence is fragile’ and ‘mental health is suffering’, she warned, adding that their brains are still developing in systems designed to keep them engaged rather than support their growth.
Her solution is clear: raise the minimum age for social media use from 13 to 16, giving children more time to develop offline before facing the pressures of online life.
It’s a proposal that has already been debated in Parliament, with MPs voting against such a change for a second time this week.
Whether or not Kerr Stymer (or Keir Starmer) acts on her plea remains to be seen.
