The hunt is on for Theo Silverton’s (James Cartwright) killer in Coronation Street, but unfortunately for DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers), there are countless people who could have done it.
Theo made a lot of enemies during his short time on the cobbles, thanks to his cruel treatment of husband Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce).
Todd suffered months of abuse during his relationship with Theo, though it wasn’t until very recently that his friends and neighbours finally saw Theo’s true colours.
As his sinister side was exposed, Theo not only lost Todd, but also business partner Gary Windass (Mikey North), who made it clear that he had Todd’s back all the way.
Of course, Gary isn’t the type to sit around and shoot daggers at his enemies, so with Theo having ended up dead, it’s no surprise that the local handyman is the one facing police interrogation.
Next week, Lisa and colleague DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) agree that Gary’s alibi doesn’t stack up.
However, unable to retrieve the deleted CCTV footage from Gary’s computer, Lisa tells Kit that they’re back to square one with Theo’s murder investigation.
Kit clearly doesn’t take this well, as he later confronts Gary on the street and warns him that he’s still his top suspect.
‘It’s definitely a balancing act,’ actor Jacob Roberts said of Kit investigating his neighbours.
‘It makes things very difficult when you have to interrogate someone intensely in one scene, and then the very next scene you’re seeing them for a pint in the pub.
You have to put the “police head” on and then switch back to being a friend.
‘It’s like playing two different characters, but ultimately, it’s just two different sides of the same man.
One side is loyal and the other is determined to get justice – no matter what.’

It seems that Lisa isn’t as certain that Gary is their man, though, as her eye is caught by another potential suspect.
When she and Kit head to the Rovers, she spots Todd glaring at them across the bar, and interprets his animosity as guilt.
Has she read the situation right, or is Todd simply struggling to wrap his head around Theo’s death?
