Blizzard’s Overwatch has officially launched on the Nintendo Switch 2, but fans are angry that the promised 60fps gameplay is absent.
A dedicated Switch 2 version of Overwatch (previously, and confusingly, known as Overwatch 2) was released earlier this week, which promised improved visuals, audio, and 60fps in both handheld and docked modes.
However, following the game’s launch on Tuesday (April 14), players have found the 60fps update isn’t actually working – with many claiming the performance is still locked to 30fps, like the original Switch 1 version.
Several clips have circulated online showing the sluggish frame rate, with fans on Reddit describing it as ‘broken’.
‘Before you download this: It’ss broken, they basically uploaded the Switch 1 version again,’ one Reddit user wrote on a thread about the Switch 2 version of Overwatch.
‘Wait for a patch.’
Another wrote in response: ‘Looks and feels exactly like the Switch 1 version boosted on Switch 2.
No idea what happened, but it feels exactly as you said.’

Others have even claimed it runs worse than the original Switch version.
‘This has to be a joke,’ one player wrote on X.
Blizzard has since acknowledged the issue on the Overwatch forums, stating it is working on a patch to resolve the ‘fps limit’ on the Switch 2 version.
‘We are aware of an issue with the fps limit on the Nintendo Switch 2 being lower than intended,’ an update reads.
‘We are working on a patch to resolve this issue.’
There’s no timeframe of when this update will be rolled out, so for now, you’re probably better off sticking with the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, or PC versions (if you have access) until it has been fixed.
Overwatch’s Switch 2 upgrade coincided with the launch of Season 2, titled Reign Of Talon: Summit, which added new hero Sierra, the return of post-match accolades, and a new mythic skin for Soldier 76.
Microsoft has long promised to bring Call Of Duty and other Xbox titles to Switch 2 but its efforts so far have been extremely limited, so it’s especially discouraging to see that when one of their companies finally makes an effort it’s a major disappointment like this.
