Patriots' Eliot Wolf Drops Surprising Update On Quarterback Search

The New England Patriots released Joshua Dobbs earlier this offseason, making Tommy DeVito the backup quarterback.

However, the team is still interested in adding another arm.

Shortly after releasing Dobbs, Mike Vrabel noted that the Patriots want to add another quarterback, and they want one they can develop.

"We need a third arm," Vrabel told reporters earlier this offseason.

"We need to try to find a young guy that we can develop and potentially add to the roster, whether that's the active roster or the practice squad."
A young quarterback that the team can develop would likely be found in the draft.

However, on Monday, Eliot Wolf revealed that the Patriots are also exploring players already in the league.

"We've evaluated all the quarterbacks," Wolf said.

"We're continuing to do that.

We're looking into some pro options as well."
In terms of free agency, there are no real young options the team could develop.

Could Wolf be hinting at a potential trade for a young quarterback to add to the room?

Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Tyrod Taylor, Cooper Rush and Jimmy Garoppolo do not really fit Vrabel's description of the type of player the Patriots want to add right now.
