RTÉ has announced the appointment of Annemarie Britz to the position of Chief Financial Officer at the broadcaster, following a public competition.
Ms Britz is currently the Director of Finance and Business Performance at the Central Bank of Ireland and will take up the role in autumn 2026.
She joined the Central Bank of Ireland in 2019 as the Head of the Financial Control Division, a position she held until 2024 when she was appointed to her current role.
Prior to joining the Central Bank, Ms Britz spent most of her career working in the private sector in South Africa where she held several CFO positions.
She joined the Reserve Bank of South Africa in 2014 where she held the positions of Deputy Chief Financial Officer (2014 - 2016) and Deputy Head Financial Markets (2016 - 2019).
Ms Britz represents the Central Bank on the Budget Committee of the European Central Bank and is a member of its global network of Central Bank CFO and served on the ECB's Accounting and Monetary Income Committee.
Welcoming the appointment, RTÉ's DG Kevin Bakhurst said that "Annemarie brings a wealth of experience to the role which will be of great benefit to me and to RTÉ's Leadership Team as we continue the necessary transformation of RTÉ and ensure the organisation remains on a financially sustainable path".
"I look forward to welcoming her to the organisation in due course," he added.
Ms Britz said: "It is a privilege to join RTÉ at such a pivotal moment.
I believe deeply in RTÉ's mission to serve the public and reflect all of Irish life - and I look forward to playing my part in an organisation with so many people who are committed to delivering on that mission every single day."
The broadcaster has stated that it will update staff on "an interim arrangement before the departure of current Chief Financial Officer Mari Hurley."
Ms Hurley announced her departure from RTÉ in January 2026, as she takes up ap new position at Irish Residential Properties REIT.
