A 29-year-old Limerick woman has died after sustaining serious head injuries in an assault last month.
Scarlett Faulkner was left in a critical condition following the incident, which occurred near the village of Birdhill, Co Tipperary on 21 March.
She was transferred to Cork University Hospital in the aftermath of the assault, where she was placed on a life support machine.
Her family announced over the weekend that she had failed to respond to treatment and there had been no change in her condition.
The mother of one died this afternoon.
In a post on social media, her sister-in-law said Ms Faulkner had passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.
They have thanked the public for their prayers and support.
Gardaí say a Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to support her family.
A 40-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl are before the courts in connection with the incident in Birdhill last month.
The teenager, who cannot be identified due to her age, is charged with assault causing serious harm to Scarlett Faulkner.
The woman, who also cannot be named by order of the court, faces four charges, including violent disorder, reckless endangerment, and two counts of burglary.
Both are due back before Nenagh District Court on 23 April.
