Kobbie Mainoo misses Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Leeds United tonight due to a minor injury.

The 20-year-old has been ever-present in the United starting XI again under Michael Carrick having been frozen out of the team for the first-half of the campaign under Ruben Amorim.

But the midfielder’s run of games for his club comes to an end tonight, left out of the squad with Manuel Ugarte taking his place in midfield alongside Casemiro.

Mainoo’s absence is due to a minor injury with Michael Carrick explaining ahead of kick-off: ‘The last day or so in training he just picked up a small issue, so we’re hoping and it seems not too bad it just wasn’t worth pushing it tonight with the games coming up.

‘Manu came on against Bournemouth and did really well at the end of the game and played for Uruguay so he’s in good shape.

We made that decision and took Kobbie out of it.’
The midfielder played for England during the international break and was part of the United squad that travelled over to Kildare, Ireland for a training camp last week.

He has started all 10 games since Carrick took the reins in January, playing the full 90 minutes on each of those occasions except for the defeat to Newcastle United.
