Trigger warning: This article contains discussion of self-harm.
EastEnders spoilers follow for Tuesday’s (April 21) episode, which is now available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
Davinder ‘Nugget’ Gulati (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) was left reeling when he discovered that dad Ravi (Aaron Thiara) was responsible for the attack on him from earlier in the year.
Ravi, as viewers know, has been struggling with his mental health this year in the wake of a series of situations.
It all started after he turned informant for the police, which he agreed to in order to keep himself out of prison after he was arrested for his role in a local drugs operation, which had a serious impact on Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway) and Kojo Asare (Dayo Koleosho).
Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) was seething over how Ravi seemingly got away with what son Harry – who relapsed while held hostage by Ravi’s associate Okie (Aayan Ibikunle Shoderu) – went through and thus she spiked him.
Nugget was subsequently diagnosed with epilepsy and Ravi felt responsible, with subsequent scenes seeing him self-harm.
Seeing the impact informing was having on him, Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy) had a word with Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), who agreed to let him step down but Ravi later confronted drug dealer Mark Fowler Jr (Stephen Aaron-Sipple) in the woods, admitting to being the ‘rat’, which led to him getting beaten up.
Priya was seriously concerned about Ravi’s mental health in the aftermath of the attack and thus took him to see a doctor, with Suki Panesar-Unwin (Balvinder Sopal) subsequently paying for a private appointment with a therapist in the hopes of him getting the help he needs.
But when Ravi almost attacked Priya in his sleep this week, he self-harmed once more and, believing that someone was out to get his loved ones, he bought new locks for the flat and removed his loved ones’ phones, telling them to stay indoors all day.
Unsuspecting Nugget and Avani (Aaaliyah James) enjoyed time with the family at first but, upon realising they couldn’t leave the flat, they grew scared.
Ravi was heartbroken to see that his children were terrified and he broke down, telling Priya that he doesn’t want to feel this way any longer.

But as Priya searched for the keys to the new locks, Nugget noticed the bruise on her arm, notifying Avani, who was devastated.
Ravi fought tears as he admitted he was to blame, with Priya determined to make clear to their children that it was just an accident.
But as emotions escalated, helmed by an incredible performance from star Aaron Thiara, Ravi revealed that he was the one who attacked Nugget, who was left staggered.
